Wichita Thunder Booster Club Duties

The Wichita Thunder Booster Club (The Storm) has the function to support the management and players of the Wichita Thunder Hockey Club, and to promote the development and growth of amateur and professional hockey in the Wichita area. This organization is not a "Fan Club".

Club Activities shall have as primary goals, the enjoyment of these activities by its members and to improve the enjoyment of amateur and professional hockey by the general public.

This is accomplished through several important committees:

Fundraising Committee - Our most important area and lifeline of the club. We participate in such things as Red Wheel sales, player buttons, a club booth at the games, and so on. The fundraising pays for all other activities of the club.

Apartments Committee - The apartment committee is in charge of setting up the guys apartments at the beginning of the season, and cleaning them out at the end of the season. You must sign on to do both if needed. There is considerable lifting, climbing of stairs, and heavy work involved in this. The apartment committee work is the heaviest at the beginning and end of the season.

Publishing Committee - Sets up, prints, collates, and distributes (both through the post office and electronically) our monthly newsletter. There are several deadlines that must be met on this committee. Interviews of players, new members, staff, etc. are included in this committee.

Bus Meals Committee - Provides meals to players when the team goes out of town. Committee members determine which menu items need to be purchased and provide the list to club members. Those who volunteer then bring listed items to a designated location before the team leaves.

Player Meals Committee - Provide meals to Thunder and visiting team players and staff after each home game. Consists of carrying heavy equipment, set up, cooking and staying late after a game to be sure all are fed, and cleanup is completed.

Parties Committee - We have parties that are scheduled. Committees are assigned for each party. All plans are set by the committee chairmen and sub-committees. We have a beginning of the year party, Christmas Party, bowling party, and a play-off party. All players and staff of the Wichita Thunder are present at these Booster Club Events.

Other committees of the Wichita Storm are Membership, Booth, Hospitality, and Player Sponsors.
